Are all Kaiboer HD players the Networked Media Tank(NMT) based players?
No, so far there are 2 types of the firmwares for Kaiboer HD players available --
K100 and K200:  using Syabas NMT firmware, HDMI 1.3ver. 
K009 and K300:  using custom firmware(as our joint project), HDMI 1.3ver.
K009 and K300 are focus on to provide users the perfect HD playback experience. 
Same as NMT, K009 and K300 are also firmware upgradable constantly. Users could download the lates new version from our offical website occasionally.

What is the Networked Media Tank (NMT)?
The NMT is an all-in-one network media device. It is a combination of a Digital Media Player (DMP), a Network Attached Storage(NAS) device and a Media Server. All these features are built into a single fully integrated hardware package that will allow the user to view, share and store their digital media with unrivaled ease. The NMT brings all your digital entertainment requirements together into the comfort of your living room, allows you to share, stream and play digital media contents for the most part without the reliance on a PC, thus streamlining your digital entertainment setup.

Why do I need an NMT player?
If you have a large media collection and would like to view it on your plasma/projector/home theater system. This is one of the most cost-effective ways to avoid investing in a HTPC. You can stream music, pictures and most importantly videos. The NMT supports H.264 video which is a compliant 1080p HiDef codec used by Bluray and HD-DVD. The second generation of NMT players with HDMIv1.3 support HD audio codec passthrough.

What do I need in order to play back from an NMT player?
There are several streaming options available for play back.
1) Install Myihome software which is downloadable from the manufactory website.
2) Install Llink provided by Lundman - http://www.lundman.net/wiki/index.php/Llink.
3) Connect to your PC via NFS / SMB network connection.
4) Connect to your NAS via NFS / SMB / UPNP AV.
5) Install an internal HDD/external HDD.
6) Hook up an external DVD ROM (for non-css encrypted DVD only)

How do I connect my NMT player to my home theater system?
1) The Kaiboer supports an HDMI connection if your AVR supports HDMI, you can connect to it directly.
2) You need to have an optical/coaxal cable and plug it into any of the optical/coaxal inputs of your AVR (Audio Video Receiver). 
3) You also could set your K100/K200 audio output as Stereo output for your 2 channel amp or your TV.
4) The Kaiboer K100 and K200 can passthrough HD audio codecs via HDMI1.3 to a suitable AVR.

Do I need to install an internal hard disk in order to use my NMT player?
1) No, you can stream movies/music/pictures from your PC or NAS (network attached storage).
2) You can attach an external USB storage device which contains the media.

I am experiencing video/audio drop out when playing some high bit rate contents
1. If you are not using HTTP try one of the http servers apps, they offer the fastest network streaming.
2. If your PC is connected via Wi-Fi try connecting it directly into your wired network.
3. Make sure there aren't any other problems with your network.
If you still have problems streaming media over the network you can search the forum(Please refer to the Support Section of our web) for more help, or try using local storage instead (internal hard drive, usb drive, etc).

Why my ISO or VIDEO_TS files doesn't play smoothly?
If your ISO or VIDEO_TS files are 25fps PAL format, you might need to set the Video Output to 50Hz instead of 60Hz.

How do I copy files from external USB flash/HDD to the internal HDD?
Press the "File Mode" key in remote control while selecting a file will bring up a File operations menu at top right of the screen.

1. Try browsing to a file, select it by pressing the "Angle" key, a tick will appear besides the file icon. You can select multiple files.
2. Browse to your destination (internal HDD should work), and press "Time Seek" key to start the Copy process.
3. Later, various file operations will be implemented more elegantly and grouped under the "File Mode" keys.

Lost audio after firmware update
Try Reset to Factory Setting:  1. Power on the unit.   2. go to Setup -> Maintenance -> reset factory default.

Yes, a USB keyboard can be used with the NMT.  Command keys are as follows:

Kaiboer NMT Hardware Questions
How can I have an internal hard disk in my K100 while there is no Internal HDD room inside the K100?
You can simply use a SATA/Power 2-in-1 cable(included in the package) to hook up your HDD to the K100, after install NMT applications on the drive, your HDD will act as a internal HDD.

If the Kaiboer HD player could be Real Power on/off controled by RC
Yes,  the K100, K200, K300 and K009 are all added with MCU,then it can realize power on/off by RC.

Can I plug an external DVD rom?
Yes you can, the USB port can support external DVD rom. However the sigma 8634 chip does not perform CSS decryption, your DVD must not be CSS protected.

Can I eject the external DVD rom by using the remote?
Yes, there is an eject button on the remote.

Can an external USB HDD function like an internal HDD?
USB HDD will not have same functionality as internal drive. Internal drive consider as non-removable drive that allows NMT apps to mount, but USB HDD consider as removable drive which NMT not able to dynamic mount and unmount the NMT apps.

What is the recommended wireless dongle?
TP-Link's model TL-WN821N(802.11n) is fully compatible with K100 and K200

Why my Kaiboer K100/K200 will not start after resetting to factory default?
The K100/K200 has reseted to default video resolution that may not be compatible with you display. Use the following shortcut keys to get back display.

TV-mode shortcut keys command:
   - TV Mode + 0 = Auto TV mode
    - TV Mode + 1 = Component/Composite NTSC 480i
    - TV Mode + 2 = Component/Composite PAL 576i
    - TV Mode + 3 = reserved
    - TV Mode + 4 = HDMI/Component 720p50
    - TV Mode + 5 = HDMI/Component 1080i50
    - TV Mode + 6 = HDMI/Component 1080p50
    - TV Mode + 7 = HDMI/Component 720p60
    - TV Mode + 8 = HDMI/Component 1080i60
    - TV Mode + 9 = HDMI/Component 1080p60

1. Goto Setup->Audio/Video, do a Save to make it persistent

How do I play all the files in the same folder?
Press PLAY to play all files in the folder, pressing ENTER will play only the single file highlighted

Why after getting out of power, there is no video signal?
This is due to Video output mode changed by the TV mode key is not saved to flash. - Workaround: Goto Setup->Audio / Video, and do a save

Audio/ Video playback
There is no video signal detected with HDMI connection during initial setup
Workaround steps:
1. Connect your NMT to the Composite input of your TV
2. Boot up and you should see first boot up logo
3. Wait until the screen goes blank
4. Press TV Mode + 1  (Press TV mode key, release and follow by key 1 and release) for NTSC or TV Mode + 2 (Press TV mode key, release and follow by key 2 and release) for PAL
5. If you see the color menu in Composite, try to set the HDMI output at Setup -> Audio/Video and do a save.
6. Connect your NMT to an HDMI input of your TV.
7. Power up your NMT

How do I select different audio tracks for my AVI file?
Select your track, then use Time Seek to activate the changes

Does NMT support subtitles?
Yes, currently the NMT support subtitles in the following format.
SRT, SMI, SUB, SSA (You need to rename the subtitle file to be the same name as your movie and place it in the same folder. )

Does NMT support other subtitle language other than English?
Currently the NMT provide support for English, Chinese, and some other European languages.

Why my subtitle does not display?
Please make sure that it is in the format that NMT support.
The filename must be the same as the movie name and in the same folder
Select the subtitle language at setup and remember to save it.

Does NMT support embedded subtitles in mkv?
Yes! It is supported.
1. Ensure that the embedded subtitles are supported by NMT, for example: .srt, .sub, .smi and .ssa
2. Turn on subtitle by pressing "subtitle" button on teh remote controle
3. To select different language, after pressing "subtitle", follow up "UP" key to scroll and toggle
4. "Left" & "Right" changes subtitle sync

How do I back up my DVD that can be play back by NMT?
You can backup your DVD into .iso format . If your movie is backup in .img format, sometimes renaming it to .iso will help.
DVD support in .iso is only supported via NFS/SMB connection at this time. It will not work with the http based myiHome. If you are having judder or audio drop out problems with SMB share you may try NFS instead.

Why my DVD ISO file didn't play?
Press ENTER key instead of PLAY key to start the ISO playback.

Why my XVID AVI files doesn't play?
Try using VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org) to remux your AVI. Choose "Direct stream copy" for both video and audio to remux without re-encode the file.

Why is all video black, although I can hear sound and see the On-Screen-Display?
This happens for example when a failed reboot occurs and all values like Brightness, Hue, Contrast are set to Zero. To solve this, press "SETUP" on the Remote during video-playback and re-set the values. (Cycle through with Up/Down, set with Left/Right)

Updating the Firmware

How to update the firmware in the NMT player? (K100 and K200 )
Occasionally, Kaiboer will provide firmware updates to enhance the functionality of your player.
You can find the latest updates at www.kaiboerhd.com Download Section.
CAUTION:
You must be careful when updating the player firmware. Any interruption to the player's power during the update process will likely ¡°brick¡± the player, rendering it unable to boot from the partially loaded firmware. If this happens, recovery file will be required to restore the player to normal operation.

To update the firmware on your Kaiboer NMT:
1. Download the latest firmware from www.kaiboerhd.com.
2. Unrar the firmware rar file to the root (top-level) folder of a quality USB thumb drive. The .bin and .html files should all be together at the root level of the thumb drive.
3. Stop all torrent uploading and downloading activity on the player
4. Unmount all network shares on the player
5. Plug the USB thumb drive you prepared into the player and browse it
6. Choose the fourth media type option (Text, as opposed to Video or Audio)
7. Open the folder which contains the .bin and .html files
8. Select the html file
9. Choose the firmware version by pressing Enter to start the update
10. Wait as the new firmware is written to flash memory. This process takes some time. Do not interrupt the procedure or else the player may be rendered
inoperable and require recovery procedure!
11. Wait as final processing of the update occurs.
12. When the firmware update is completed, the player will reboot automatically.

How to instal the Networked Media Tank Applications?
(Advanced users can install the NMT Applications on the hard drive, adding the ability to use the Kaiboer NMT as a multimedia center, including such features as BitTorrent functionality and YouTube video browsing. )
Warning:
First time Setup NMT apps(Fresh Installation) will format your hard drive and remove all the contents, please backup your files before Fresh Installation.
Typical Installation - updates ONLY the NMT apps, you do not lose your data on your HDD.

1. Rename the downloaded file¡¯s name *.nmt to syb8634.nmt
2. Copy the file to the ROOT directory of your USB flash drive
3. Plug the USB stick, power up your NMT
4. The NMT Apps update wizard will automatically find syb8634.nmt
5. After connecting the hard drive to the Kaiboer player, navigate to Setup -> Maintenance -> NMT Setup Wizard (only available if your HDD is detected)
6. Under the NMT Setup Wizard, you will find the installation guide
7. Begin setup to execute the operation
8. The player will restart when setup has completed
Note:
You should upgrade the new firmware first before upgrading the corresonding new NMT application.

How to recover from firmware update failure with fail-safe kernel for K100 and K200?
Follow these instructions to recover the K100 and K200 if the firmware update fails.
This method is only applicable for the model K100 and K200.
 
1. Download the recovery file from www.kaiboerhd.com
2. Unrar both up5fw2TP.bin and boot-image.bin onto the root of a USB thumbdrive and plug into NMT.
3. Connect Component or Composite output
4. Power up the unit.
5. Component or Composite video will display following colours depending on its recovery status:
      RED - Required binaries on USB thumbdrive detected, starts recovery
     WHITE DOTs - reprogramming
     YELLOW - Recovery failed
     WHITE - Recovery success
6. After successful recovery, power cycle will bring it up again to 50-17-081023-15-KBR-406-000 firmware, then you could upgrade your NMT to the lates new version again.
Note:
1. This method only applicable for firmware 080612 and greater firmware version for Kaiboer NMT K100 &K200, and will only able to recover from the failure of
firmware update from 080612 and any other firmware that is greater than 080612version.
2. up5fw2TP.bin is just a rename of 50-17-081023-15-KBR-406-000.bin, for example, if you rename ****.bin to up5fw2TP.bin, then recovery would bring up to **** version.

How to fix the EXT2/3 filesystem in NMT if corrupted?
1) Download the tools from http://files.syabas.com/networkedmediatank/scan_package.zip and place in USB thumdrive root.
2) Browse to the html (4th filter at Home page)
3) Cick on "Disable NMT"
4) Click on "Scan NMT Partition" (should only take about 1 minute)
5) When finish, reboot.
6) Browse the html again, click on "Enable NMT"
7) Reboot again.
8) Then try out torrent etc. that is in issue.

If still fail, then try "typical setup" to reinstall NMT again.

If still fail, then try 1) to 8) again, but this time at 4) do "Scan Content Partition" instead. (**NOTE this may take hours.)

What file systems are supported for NMT?
File system read supported: EXT2/3, NTFS, FAT16/32, HFS+
File system write supported: EXT2/3, FAT16/32. NTFS write (not supported and low priority in to do list)

What network file sharing protocols are supported?
The NMT supports Samba (CIFS), NFS, HTTP (myiHome), and FTP.

What speeds should I expect when streaming over the network?
Assuming you are using a 100mbit (wired) connection end-to-end:
SMB: ~38Mbps
NFS: ~33Mbps
HTTP (myiHome): ~42Mbps (same clip peaks at 47Mbps)
For direct attached devices:
USB HDD: ~ 42Mbps
USB DVDROM (8x): ~42Mbps
Internal HDD: ~42Mbps
  

What is the best network connection for playing back high bitrate content?
Based on the answer to the previous question, HTTP (myiHome) is the preferred method as it is the fastest. However it does not support .iso/.ifo files, the next best choice is SMB which supports those file formats.

How do I configure my NMT to access SMB/NFS shares?
Setting up a SMB share:
1. Go to "Setup" -> "Media Server" -> "Network Share"
2. Browse your SMB network and add the path to the list, or manually enter the path to your SMB share, for example:
smb://<IP address>/<folder> or smb://<hostname>/<folder> 

Setting up a NFS share:
1. Go to "Setup" -> "Media Server" -> "Network Share"
2. Type in the full path to your NFS share, for example:
nfs://<IP address>:/<folder> or nfs://<hostname>:/<folder>
The colon after "hostname" or "IP address" is required.
Note:
<IP address> should be replaced with your server's IP address, i.e. "192.168.2.1". The same applies for <hostname> and <folder>.

How do I access the NMT hard drive via SMB or FTP?
If your NMT has a hard drive installed, you can access it via SMB or FTP.
  Via SMB:
1. (On Windows) Open a file browsing window, and enter the address:
\\<IP address>\share
The default username for SMB access is nmt and the default password is 1234.

  Via FTP:
1. Use an ftp client to access
ftp://<IP address>/ .
The default username for FTP access is ftpuser and the default password is 1234. On Windows, you can use a file browsing window with the address: ftp://ftpuser@<IP address> . Enter 1234 when it prompts for a password.
Note: <IP address> should be replaced with your NMT's IP address, i.e. "192.168.2.1".

How do i unlock the setup page?
Setup + Play turns off 'Lock settings' option

When I play DTS wav files, I hear only noise.
Make sure your receiver can decode DTS audio, that Kaiboer is connected to the receiver via a digital optical/coaxial cable, and that you set the Audio Setup options the following way: "Surround=5.1", "DTS=RAW". If you still hear noise, then your Kaiboer "software volume" (set via the remote) is probably not at its default value - try changing it as the DTS file is playing; once you hit the default level (38/49), you should hear the music playing.

I have a problem when I play MP3 from my NMT. They will play but the sound is terrible. When I play movies the sound is perfect, problem is only with MP3 files. Where is the problem?
Workaround:
Use the Page Down buttons on the remote of K100/K200 to ensure that the internal software volume is set to zero or behind zero when playing music file.  If it is more than zero, it can cause music files to sound distorted. (you could inreased the volume by your speaker or TV)

Help, my video files are not playing? Is this a bug or faulty NMT?
Not all video files are encoded to work with the NMT, depending on the encoding of the media. You should use Mediainfo or Avinaptic to check. Being able to play on your PC does not necessarily mean that the NMT will be able to play back the same file flawlessly.   

Why doesn't my subtitle display?
Please make sure that it is in the format that NMT supports, like the common .srt files. The subtitle file must be in the same folder as the movie file, and have the exact same name as the name of the movie except for the extension. This means that it is case sensitive, MyMovie.srt won't be connected to mymovie.avi.

    - 4. Shift in vertical direction.

Current firmware still cant support the embedded subtitles in m2ts yet, you could convert to .srt files that formatted as ANSI.
